Threaded Rebar Sleeve (PC Embedded Lifting Insert)
Threaded Rebar Sleeve (PC Embedded Lifting Insert)
Precast Concrete Lifting & Bracing Embedded Component Product Brochure
1. Product Overview
Threaded rebar sleeves, also referred to as PC lifting inserts, embedded sleeves, or lifting sockets, are critical steel embedments used in precast concrete (PC) fabrication and erection. Manufactured from ribbed reinforcing bars via precision drilling and threading, these inserts serve as a modern replacement for traditional lifting loops.
They provide reliable lifting points and temporary bracing locations for precast walls, stairs, slabs, balconies, and other precast elements, and are widely adopted in industrialized precast construction worldwide.
2. Key Advantages
- High Strength & Seismic Performance: Manufactured from GB-standard HRB400E seismic-grade ribbed rebar, offering excellent tensile strength and ductility. Superior pull-out resistance ensures structural safety throughout all lifting operations.
- Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: Hot-dip galvanized finish provides uniform, bright coating that resists alkaline attack from concrete and moisture exposure on site, significantly reducing long-term corrosion risks.
- Standardization & Installation Efficiency: Compact profile and simplified anchorage method compared to conventional lifting loops. Factory-controlled manufacturing guarantees batch consistency, significantly reducing field installation complexity and human error.
- Cost-Effective Solution: High-volume production and optimized packaging reduce total procurement and logistics costs for contractors and precasters.
3. Technical Specifications
3.1 Base Parameters
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Raw Material | GB HRB400E Seismic-Grade Ribbed Reinforcing Bar |

3.2 Standard Size Chart
| Size | Compatible Lifting Bolt | Outer Ø (Approx.) | Standard Length Range | Recommended Max. Working Load (Reference) | Surface Finish |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| M12 | M12 | 12 mm | 50 – 150 mm | 0.5 – 0.8 t | Zinc Plating / Color Zinc Plating |
| M16 | M16 | 16 mm | 80 – 200 mm | 1.5 – 2.0 t | Zinc / Color Zinc |
| M20 | M20 | 20 mm | 100 – 250 mm | 2.5 – 3.5 t | Zinc / Color Zinc |
| M24 | M24 | 24 mm | 120 – 300 mm | 3.0 – 4.0 t | Zinc / Color Zinc |
Safety Notice: The above working loads are theoretical values. Per industry best practice, design working loads shall be taken as 50%–70% of theoretical value (i.e., 2:1 safety margin) based on theoretical capacity.
3.3 Critical Dimensions
- Effective Thread Depth: The engaged thread length, typically 1/2 to 2/3 of total sleeve length.
- Cross Hole / Top Hole: Cross hole accepts transverse anchor bar; top hole engages swivel lifting eyes or direct lifting bolts.
4. Installation & Handling Guide
4.1 Fabrication & Embedding
- Precision Cutting: Cut HRB400E rebar to specified lengths using calibrated cutting equipment.
- Drilling & Tapping: CNC horizontal drilling ensures concentric hole placement; professional tapping machines produce 60° metric threads.
- Anti-Corrosion Treatment: Cleaned and descaled semi-finished parts receive full hot-dip galvanizing, ensuring complete thread coverage.
- Field Embedding: Secure sleeves in formwork using magnetic bases or fixtures. Install thread protectors to prevent concrete slurry from entering the threads.
4.2 Lifting & Connection
- Hardware Matching: Remove caps, clean threads, and engage compatible swivel lifting eye or high-strength bolt.
- Test Lift: Pause at approximately 500 mm lift-off and inspect for slippage, cracking, or abnormal deformation.
- Positioning: Lower slowly into position using tag lines. Do not disengage lifting hardware until permanent supports are fully engaged.
5. Typical Applications
- Precast Concrete Wall Panels: Primary lifting and temporary bracing points for interior and exterior walls.
- Precast Stair Flights: Resist self-weight, bending moments and shear forces during lifting and installation.
- Precast Floor Slabs: Multi-point embedment for balanced lifting with spreader beams.
- Balconies & Specialty Elements: Robust load anchorage for balconies, AC condenser platforms, and other architectural components.
6. Safety & Compliance Notes
- Follow Approved Drawings: Load capacities vary significantly by size; must not be selected by experience alone. Always follow structural design drawings.
- Anti-Blocking & Cleaning: Protect threads during pouring. If clogged, clear thoroughly with a steel pick or reverse-thread tap before lifting. Never lift with blocked threads.
- No On-Site Welding: On-site welding or flame cutting is strictly prohibited. Heat damages the steel microstructure and may cause sudden brittle failure.
- Periodic Inspection: Re-assess fatigue condition of sleeves and rigging if elements remain suspended during extreme weather conditions.
