Forged Round-Head Lifting Hanger

Precast Concrete Lifting Insert Product Brochure

1. Product Introduction

The Forged Round-Head Lifting Hanger is a standard precast lifting insert that complies with international hanger system specifications and lifting safety regulations for precast concrete components. It serves as a critical safety component ensuring the structural integrity of precast elements throughout production, transportation, and on-site handling.

Featuring a simple forged round-head design, this product offers convenient installation and minimizes worker operation time, making it a widely adopted solution in precast concrete manufacturing worldwide.

2. Product Parameters & Specifications

3. Working Principle

The round-head hanger transfers applied loads to the surrounding concrete through its rounded foot geometry, enabling a relatively short hanger to achieve a high allowable working load. Even when installed in thin wall sections, loads are effectively distributed to the concrete matrix and internal reinforcing steel.

Due to the axisymmetric shape of the round foot, no special rotational positioning is required during installation, unlike other types of embedded lifting inserts. Theoretically, longer hangers can withstand greater loads as they form a larger concrete load cone within the element. All failure analysis for hanger applications is based on the compressive strength of this concrete load cone.

4. Safety Factors & Application Requirements

4.1 Safety Factors

  • Hanger Material Safety Factor:3:1
  • Concrete Failure Safety Factor:2.5:1
  • Universal Joint (Lifting Tool) Safety Factor:5:1

4.2 Application Safety Requirements

To meet safety design requirements, the following aspects must be observed during design, construction, and lifting operations:

  • No Modification: Modification or welding of the round-head hanger is strictly prohibited. Removed hangers must not be reused.
  • System Compatibility: Strictly follow the installation and usage instructions. Do not mix with components from other manufacturers.
  • Design Calculation: Design precast components based on this manual or product samples. Contact our technical team for additional data beyond this document.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all applications comply with current building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Stress Analysis: Lifting forces alter internal stress distribution in precast elements. Perform force calculations based on designed lifting conditions and assess whether reinforcement is required to prevent component damage, in accordance with relevant precast specifications.

5. Selection Guidelines

5.1 Factors Influencing Load Capacity

Correct hanger selection must be based on applied loads, taking into account the following factors:

  • Weight of the precast component
  • Number and positioning of hangers
  • Sling angle and spread during lifting
  • Diagonal loading characteristics of slings and hangers
  • Dynamic forces during lifting and handling
  • Adhesion force to the formwork
