Steel Flatbed Towing Trailer / Industrial Transfer Cart
Steel Flatbed Towing Trailer
Industrial Heavy-Duty Material Transfer Cart Product Brochure
1. Product Overview
The Steel Flatbed Towing Trailer, also referred to as Industrial Transfer Cart, is a non-powered heavy-duty material handling unit designed to be towed by external power sources such as forklifts, tractors, towing tractors, or AGV tuggers. The main body is welded from high-strength structural steel and fitted with load-bearing wheel assemblies and a towing hitch mechanism, engineered for in-plant and yard transportation of precast concrete components, steel fabrications, large molds, and heavy industrial goods.
Widely adopted in the prefabricated construction industry, these trailers transfer PC elements between production lines, curing kilns, and storage yards. They typically handle loads of 10–20 tonnes with higher capacities available, including wall panels, floor slabs, stairs, balconies, bay windows, and trench units, improving logistics efficiency while reducing crane handling and labor costs.

3. Operation & Usage Instructions
- Pre-Operation Inspection: Verify the platform is free of deformation and weld cracks. Check that wheels rotate smoothly without abnormal bearing noise. Confirm the tow pin or eye securely mates and locks with the towing vehicle.
- Loading: Place cargo centrally with its center of gravity aligned to the platform’s geometric center. Overweight or eccentric loads must be approved by a structural engineer. Use rubber pads or timber packers to protect edges of PC elements.
- Towing & Driving: Operated by qualified personnel. Start and brake smoothly; avoid rapid acceleration, abrupt stops, and high-speed cornering. Recommended in-plant speed: 5–10 km/h.
- Positioning & Parking: Upon arrival, use wheel chocks or the parking brake to prevent rolling. For long-term storage, park on a level, hardened surface.
- Routine Maintenance: Grease wheel bearings weekly or every 50 operating hours. Re-torque structural bolts per schedule. Touch up damaged paint promptly to prevent corrosion.
- Cleaning & Storage: Do not allow concrete slurry or mud to accumulate on the deck. If stored outdoors, use a weatherproof cover.
4. Application Scenarios
- Precast Concrete Plants: Transferring wall panels, composite slabs, stairs, balconies, bay windows, and precast trench units between casting beds, steam-curing kilns, and storage yards.
- Municipal & Transportation Works: Hauling large concrete segments, sleepers, curbs, and U-shaped drainage channels to installation sites.
- Heavy Manufacturing Workshops: Moving steel fabrications, large welded assemblies, and mold bases between machining and welding stations.
- Ports & Logistics Yards: Short-distance horizontal transport of containers or heavy goods in tandem with tug vehicles.
- Wind Energy & Heavy Equipment: Transporting oversized items such as tower flange sections or nacelle bases with specially widened decks.
5. Safety Precautions
- Never Overload: Do not exceed the rated capacity. Severely eccentric loads require re-evaluation by a structural engineer.
- Personnel Exclusion Zone: No personnel shall stand on the platform or within the trailer’s path during movement and loading operations.
- Towing Compatibility: The tow vehicle’s drawbar pull, hitch height, and steering angle must match the trailer to avoid decoupling or frame twisting.
- Route Inspection: Travel only on even surfaces free of deep pits or obstacles. When crossing rails or ramps, verify clearance and grade limits.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Operators must wear safety boots and high-visibility vests. Use spotters and signalers in congested areas.
- Periodic Inspection: Maintain service records. Conduct regular visual or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) checks on welds, axles, and tow pins.
